Hyderabad: Tamil actor Chiyaan Vikram is known for playing roles that are different from the mainstream. Films like ‘Aparichitudu,’ ‘Siva Putrudu,’ ‘I,’ ‘Raavan,’ and others are the best examples. On the occasion of the actor’s birthday on Monday, the makers of his next film ‘Thangalaan’ released a making video of the film and it is taking the internet by storm.

The transformation of Vikram into Thangalaan is outstanding and unbelievable. Audiences will have a hard time believing that they are really seeing Vikram in this raw and rustic avatar.

The making video shows Vikram in different phases of being Thangalaan. He flaunts long hair in some scenes and is half-bald in others.

‘Thangalaan’ is based on a real event in the Kolar gold fields decades ago. Going by the video, it looks like it is a film about land politics between the indigenous people and the colonial force.

The film is directed by Pa. Ranjith and is slated to release in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Odia, Marathi, and Bengali.

‘Thangalaan’ features Parvathy and Malavika Mohanan. Daniel Caltagirone, a Hollywood artist, has been roped in to play an important role in the film. The star cast includes Pasupathy, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Preethi Karan, Muthukumar, and many other prominent actors.

A. Kishore is handling the cinematography and G.V. Prakash Kumar is composing the music. Tamizh Prabha is the co-writer of this film and the art department is handled by S.S. Moorthy. R.K. Selva (editing) and Stunner Sam (stunts) form part of this eclectic crew.

The film is produced by the eminent production house Studio Green - K.E. Gnanavel Raja in association with Pa. Ranjith’s Neelam Productions and Pramod, Vamsi of UV creations at a whopping budget. The film is in the final stages of shooting.
