Hyderabad: A cloud of controversy has dampened the resounding success of the film Leo. Accusations have been levied against Mansoor Ali Khan for making inappropriate sexual comments about actress Trisha Krishnan. Both were featured in the movie alongside its protagonist Thalapathy Vijay.

Trisha, responding vehemently to these allegations, took to her social media account on X (formerly Twitter) to condemn Mansoor’s remarks as not only disgusting but also sexist, disrespectful, and deeply misogynistic.

Leo’s director condemns Mansoor

Mansoor’s comments have triggered widespread support for Trisha Krishnan within the entertainment industry. Leo movie’s director Lokesh Kanagaraj was among the first to publicly stand by Trisha. Expressing his dismay, Lokesh emphasised the familial nature of their collaboration with Leo and declared that respect for women is non-negotiable.

Karthik Subbaraj, director of the recently released Jigarthanda DoubleX, promptly joined the chorus of support for Trisha. In a statement on X, he labelled Mansoor as a 'shameless individual' for his inappropriate remarks.

Renowned singer Chinmayi Sripada, who has been vocal about discrimination and harassment of women in the Tamil entertainment industry, also weighed in. Chinmayi criticised Mansoor’s actions and drew attention to other instances of misogyny within the Tamil industry.

As the controversy unfolds, notable superstars from Tamil cinema have maintained their stoic silence, and the industry is keenly observing how stars from Tollywood will respond. Actresses like Malavika Mohanan, Khushbu Sundar, and Manjima Mohan have rallied in solidarity with Trisha, underscoring a collective demand for respect and equality in the industry.

Mansoor’s offensive remarks

In a recent interview, Mansoor Ali Khan expressed disappointment over not having an intimate scene with Trisha in Leo. This revelation follows similar comments he had made about Madonna Sebastian, another actress from Leo, during a promotional show for the film.

The unfolding saga continues to captivate public attention, sparking discussions and scrutiny within the Tamil film industry.
