Hyderabad: The Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments have permitted cinema theatres in the states to increase ticket prices for the upcoming Telugu movie 'Acharya'.
Andhra Pradesh
In Andhra Pradesh, cinema theatres can charge an extra Rs. 50 per ticket. This hike is the same for all theatres and all classes for a period of 10 days from the film's release.
The movie is set to release on 29 April.
Telangana
As per the Telangana government's order, recliner seats in single theatres, IMAX/large screens (75 ft and above), and multiplexes can charge Rs. 50 extra for the first seven days – from 29 April to 5 May. Meanwhile, air-conditioned/air-cooled theatres can charge Rs. 30 extra for the first seven days.
For the remaining category, i.e., non-AC, there is no change in the prices.
Further, the government has permitted the screening of five shows of the movie 'Acharya' between 7 a.m and 1 a.m from 29 April to 5 May in relaxation of its orders.
The permission is granted temporarily subject to payment of tax to the government on usual terms and conditions and for 'Acharya' movie screening only, the order stated.
'Acharya' is a Telugu film starring Ram Charan Tej, Chiranjeevi, Sonu Sood, and Pooja Hegde.
This is the fourth film for which the Telangana government has allowed a temporary hike in ticket prices. The other films were 'Radhe Shyam', 'RRR', and 'KGF Chapter 2'.
The highest hike was for 'RRR' – an increase of Rs. 50-100 depending on the theatre and seats.
