Hyderabad: Following the success of her last movie 'Yashoda,' Samantha is gearing up for the release of her next, 'Shaakuntalam' which is directed and produced by Gunasekhar. Ahead of the film's release, the team met the press on Monday morning and unveiled the theatrical trailer which is already going viral on social media.

The film is being presented by producer Dil Raju in Telugu and is getting a pan-India release. It will release in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi on 17 February.

The trailer is a visual canvas and promises grand and beautiful frames. Samantha plays the titular role in the film which is based on Kalidasa's play.

The trailer of 'Shaakuntalam' showcases all the key points of the story, right from Shakuntala's introduction to rishi Durvasa's curse that made him forget his love for Shakuntala. It concludes with a short clip of Shakuntala's son Bharat (played by Allu Arha). Samantha looks beautiful in the trailer and she is evidently playing a character with multiple shades.

A few netizens have called the trailer perfect and some have commented that the VFX could have been better and said the trailer lacks emotional connection. However, we hope the film won't disappoint.

Malayalam actor Dev Mohan plays King Dusyant in the film. The other cast members include Allu Arha, Sachin Khedekar, Kabir Bedi, Dr. M. Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Madhubala, Gautami, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla, and Jisshu Sengupta.
