A range of movies are being released on OTT platforms in July. Most of the filmmakers skipped theatrical release and decided to showcase the movies on different platforms to avoid further delay and financial losses.

Here is the list of the much-awaited films releasing on OTT this month.

July 15: Malik


This is one of the most-awaited films from South cinema. Malik was slated to hit the theatres on the occasion of Eid. But due to the second wave of COVID-19, the film is skipping theatrical release. The film is all set to release on Amazon Prime on July 15. Written and directed by Mahesh Narayanan, Malik is a socio-political thriller inspired by real-life events. And the director is quite confident that the film will meet the expectations of the audience. Malik is the third collaboration between Mahesh and Fahadh. Earlier, the actor-director duo worked together in `Take Off' and `C U Soon'. It is also the duo's second film to directly release on Amazon Prime Video after last year's `C U Soon'.

July 16: Toofan


Starring Farhan Akthar and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles, Toofan is one of the highly anticipated sports dramas of Bollywood. The film is skipping its theatrical release and is set to stream on Amazon Prime Video from July 16. Amazon Prime Video has made the news official. . The film drew flak when it was first slated to be released. Netizens had demanded a ban citing Farhan's stance on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The first-look poster of the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directorial took the internet by storm.

July 16: Vaazhl


Arun Prabhu Purushothaman directorial Vaazhl is all set to stream on Sony LIV from July 16. The makers wanted this film to be released in theatres. But due to the lockdown, the makers decided to release it on the digital platform. Vaazhl is produced by Kalai Arasu and co-produced by actor-producer Sivakarthikeyan. The film mainly features newcomers. Music is composed by Pradeep Kumar and cinematography by Shelley. Vaazhl is Sivakarthikeyan's third production Tamil movie post-Kanaa and Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja.

July 22: Sarpatta


Starring Arya, the film is directed by Pa Ranjith of Kala and Kabali fame. The film will stream from July 22 on Amazon Prime Video. "For an individual as well as for a society, there is a gulf between merely living and living worthily – Babasaheb. Victory of an Individual is a victory of the entire society (sic)," tweeted Ranjith along with the film's poster announcing its release on Amazon Prime Video.

The film revolves around the boxing culture that existed in North Chennai in the 1980s and the clash between Idiyappa Parambarai and Sarpatta Parambarai clans in North Chennai, also stars John Kokken, Kalaiyarasan, Santhosh Prathap, Shabeer Kallarakkal, and Sanchana Natarajan.

July 30: Mimi


This is one film that has been in news for a long time now. The film stars Kriti Sanon who will be seen playing a surrogate mother in the Laxman Utekar directorial venture. On July 10, the makers of the film announced its release date. Mimi will premiere on Netflix and Jio Cinema on July 30. Besides Kriti, Mimi stars Pankaj Tripathi, Sai Tamhankar, Supriya Tripathi and Manoj Pahwa. The film will stream on Netflix from July 30. Sharing the film's poster, she wrote: "This July, the unexpected offer will change her LIFE! Delivering the #MimiTrailer in 3 days, #Tuesday! #NothingLikeWhatYoureExpecting! #Mimi releasing on 30th July on @officialjiocinema & @netflix_in (sic)."
