Hyderabad: Scoop is a recently released Netflix web series that grabbed the attention of a pan-India audience.

The series tells us the story of Jigna Vora, former deputy bureau chief of the Asian Age. The series is about the fearless journalists who sacrificed everything including their lives to bring crime to light. The series, in 10 episodes, explores the links between the media and the Mumbai underworld.

According to the buzz, Scoop is based on true events from the book written by Jigna Vora. For the uninitiated, in 2012, crime journalist Jigna Vora was arrested for conspiring in the murder of a famous person in the Mumbai crime reporting scene, Jyotirmoy Dey. The 56-year-old Dey, also known as J Dey, was on his way home when four strangers shot him dead.




Directed by Hansal Mehta of the 2012 Shahid fame, the series has been receiving a positive response. The story has hard-hitting dialogues with fast-paced storytelling.

Actor Zeeshan Ayyub went under the skin of his character of Imran and delivered his best performance to date. His character shows that good journalism always led to controversy in the past.

Speaking about the series, director Hansal Mehta said that he found the world that led the journalist to face prison fascinating. The aspirations of a middle-class girl in Mumbai to become a best crime reporter became a controversy and he said that it was intriguing.
