Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has promised to transform Hyderabad into one of the top hubs for filmmaking in the country.

The Chief Minister made the announcement while interacting with the winners of the 71st National Film Awards at his residence.

Government’s vision for Hyderabad Film Industry

The Telangana government has already declared its intention to position Hyderabad as the capital of Indian cinema.

A ministerial sub-committee, headed by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, has been tasked with preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to achieve this vision.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti emphasized that Hyderabad should emerge as a global film city attracting talent from across India and abroad.

Addressing industry challenges

During the meeting, filmmakers highlighted challenges in obtaining permissions from multiple departments including police, fire services, and municipal bodies.

Recognizing this as a key hurdle, the government has decided to introduce a single-window clearance system under the Telangana Film Development Corporation.

A dedicated officer will be appointed to coordinate approvals across departments, streamlining the process for film producers.

Next steps

The state government reiterated that it is committed to creating a filmmaker-friendly ecosystem, ensuring both infrastructural development and ease of doing business for the industry.
