Police said that JC Prabhakar Reddy and others were involved in forging documents including insurance papers and NOCs to sell 18-wheeler trailer lorries.

Police had registered a case against JC Prabhakar Reddy and three others a week ago after 10 persons, who had purchased the vehicles from Nageswara Reddy, the fleet manager of Prabhakar Reddy, staged a dharna in front of the TDP leaderā€™s residence demanding the return of their money.

They alleged that they were sold BS-III lorries as BS-IV vehicles using forged documents. Road Transport Department immediately swung into action and seized the vehicles.

Transport Commissioner P Anjaneyulu said that the investigation has revealed that JC Prabhakar Reddy and his son have been operating and selling vehicles using forged documents.

Transport Department said that they have unearthed a major vehicle scam. The officials said the modus operand of the father-son duo was to purchase vehicles as scrap and register them as BS-IV vehicles.

Of the 154 BS-III vehicles purchased from Ashok Leyland purportedly as scrap, 80 had been registered in Anantapur district as BS-IV vehicle. Of those, 30 were sold in the name of Nageswara Reddy as the authorized signatory of Jatadhara company and the remaining in the name of J Chinna Uma Reddy.
