Fact Check: No, Dalit family was not attacked for refusing to chant Jai Shri Ram

Hyderabad: A post by Azad Samaj Party, a verified Twitter account, has gone viral. Users claim that goons attacked a man belonging to Scheduled Caste community for refusing to chant Jai Shri Ram. The post has notched 2,900 likes.
"An SC man refused to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' so the goons brutally attacked his family in Loni Thana area, Ghaziabad. Family members including women and child are injured. It's an attempt of mob lynching but the police admin refused to file FIR. This is totally casteism. @Uppolice," tweeted Mission Ambedkar.

The fight erupted because a minor Brahmin girl was eve-teased by some people.
Jagran report quoted police officer Atul Kumar Sonkar saying that a complaint of molestation has been registered. The matter is under investigation.
According to a news website 'Falana Dhikana,' the incident took place at Vikas Nagar area of Loni when some boys eve-teased a 16-year-old daughter of Shubhash Sharma. The boys belonged to the Jatav community that dominated the area.
On September 7 at around 7 PM, Abhishek passed some lewd comments and harassed the minor girl. She screamed for help. Her brother Chetan Sharma arrived on the scene and a scuffle broke out between the two.
As per the reports, some other members from Abhishek's community joined in and brutally thrashed Chetan Sharma causing him grievous injuries.
However, on the instigation of the Bhima Army, the accused said he was beaten for not chanting Jai Shri Ram, the report says. On September 8, at around 12:30 PM, an FIR was filed against Shubhash Sharma's family under the SC-ST act.
The fight has erupted because a 16-year-old minor girl was eve-teased by some members of Jatav community. And the victim belonged to the Brahmin community. There is no religious angle to the case.
