Hyderabad: A video of a girl's body being recovered from a house is being shared with a communal overtones on Twitter.

Fact Check:

The claim is MISLEADING. Dalit girl hailing from Hyderabad has been murdered by her boyfriend on October 17, 2020. There is no communal angle to this incident.

When searched for the video with keywords "Dalit girl R**** raped and killed", we found that several users have shared the same video with the narrative stating that 'R**** was killed by her boyfriend Syed Mustafa @ Ayan on Oct 17 in Hyderabad. This is her body being recovered from the accused's house. She was from SC caste.'

Girls' body was recovered from Syed Mustafa's house and he was booked by the police under the sections IPC 417 and 420 (cheating).

According to a report in Swarajyamag, She was a second-year student of Bachelors of Law degree at Mahatma Gandhi Law College. Her brother stated that she went to meet Syed Mustafa at his house. He said she was killed by Mustafa and his brother.

Police reported that her mother is a Muslim by birth while her father, Raj Kumar, is a Hindu. The family told police that they are practicing Christians.

A case of murder has been registered against the accused. He has also been booked under SC/ST Act. The body was shifted to Osmania Hospital for autopsy. Police are probing all the possible angles in the case.

Hence, the incident occurred after there was an altercation between a girlfriend and her boyfriend. It is NOT a communal incident. The claim is Misleading.
