FACT: Schools in Telangana that had to open on October 14, 2019, after the Dasara holidays is now due to reopen on October 21, 2019, due to the Telangana State Road Transport (TSRTC) strike.
Fake news has been making the rounds in the state claiming that the school holidays have been extended till October 31, 2019. Recently, news from TV9 a Telugu news platform was being circulated on various social media platforms saying that the government has extended the school holidays. Newsmeter verified the image in circulation using Google Reverse Image Search and obtained posts from various Telugu online media published on October 17, 2019, that denies the news being circulated.
TV 9 also published a statement explaining that fake videos and images are being circulated on its name. The breaking image has been morphed from the original news bulletin telecasted earlier.
As October 19 fast approaches and schools gear up to reopening though the RTC bus strike has yet not ended. All stakeholders in the state, including students and parents, are curious to know the government's next step. Taking advantage of this curiosity, some fake news mongers have created a message stating that the government has decided to reopen schools in Telangana on October 31, 2019. The truth is that even though the RTC strike has not ended, the government has not taken any further decision. Till then the old dates issued by government that holidays are extending only up to 19th and school will reopen on 21st.(20th is Sunday)
According to the report published in Telangana Today, Telangana Government has clarified that schools are going to reopen on October 21st.
