Fact Check:

It is almost a year-old incident and NOT recent. This incident took place on December 22, 2019. Hiramani Tiwari, a Wadala resident, was beaten up and his head was tonsured over a Facebook post.

With the help of keyword searches, Newsmeter found reports by several media outlets including NDTV, Republic TV, and HW News English.

According to The Hindu, an FIR was filed against Samadhan Jugdar a Shiva leader and three others belonging to the party for unlawful assembly, rioting, assault, intentional insult, and criminal intimidation, at Wadala TT police station.

As per the report, Tiwari, who works in the private sector, had put up a post about Thackeray's statements likening the police action against protesting students to the pre-Independence Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

Facebook post had angered local Shiv Sainiks, who gathered outside his house and forced him to come out. Later Jugdar shaved Tiwari's head in full public view using an electric shaver.

Hence, the claim is FALSE.
