Heavy rains in Telangana caused waterlogging and traffic congestion in various areas of Hyderabad and inundated low-lying regions in the state. Because of incessant rains, Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao directed chief secretary Santhi Kumari to declare a two-day holiday on July 21-22 for government offices and educational institutions under the GHMC limits.
Amidst this, a video showing a red car floating backwards in a waterlogged street is going viral, with users claiming that it shows the present situation in Hyderabad.
A Twitter account posted the video with the caption, āPresent Situation Of Hyderabad. NO MLA, No Corporator, No Officer Inspecting Besides. Enjoying Pakodas At their Residences. #HyderabadRains. (sic)ā

NewsMeter found that the video shows a deluge in Hyderabad in 2020.
On performing a reverse image search of the videoās keyframes, we found a slower and longer version of the video posted on Facebook on October 16, 2020. It shows the red car bumping into another red car and a third car adding to the pile-up.
We found another video posted by the news agency IANS on October 14, 2020, showing the visuals of the three cars piled on a water-logged street. ā#Telangana: A car collides with other cars after getting washed away in New Bowenpally area of #Hyderabad. #HyderabadRain,ā read the caption.
Crux News of Network 18 also published a video report on October 14, 2020, showing the same visuals. The report is titled āPeople, Animals And Cars Swept Away In Hyderabad Floods.ā
According to the description, a yellow alert was issued after heavy rains battered Telangana. It also said over ten people, including a two-month-old baby, lost their lives.
Local channels such as Kanak News and Tv37 also published video reports in 2020 showing the same visuals.
Hence, we conclude that the viral video of the deluge is from 2020 and does not show the present situation in Hyderabad. The claim is false.
