Against this backdrop, a video of a massive crowd at a mall is being shared with the claim that it shows people turning up to watch ‘Pathaan’ at the Pentagon mall in Haridwar.

NewsMeter found that the video is from 2022 and shows a massive crowd inside the LuLu mall in Kerala.
A reverse image search of the video’s keyframe led to a YouTube video published by NDTV on 12 July 2022. The video is titled “Viral Video From Kerala Mall’s Midnight Sale Shocks Internet.” According to the description, thousands of shoppers thronged LuLu mall in Kerala when the mall offered a 50% discount at midnight.
News18 Kerala published the same video on 9 July 2022. It is titled “Huge crowd at midnight sale in Thiruvananthapuram Lulu Mall.”
We also found a still of the video in a report by Mint from 10 July 2022. It said LuLu mall outlets in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi witnessed a massive crowd of shoppers after they offered a 50% discount on all items in a midnight sale. It also said the midnight sale was open from 11.59 p.m. on 6 July till the dawn of 7 July 2022.
It is evident that the video is from July 2022 and shows shoppers thronging Kerala’s Lulu mall during the midnight sale. Hence, we conclude that the claim that the viral video shows people waiting to watch ‘Pathaan’ is false.
