Fact Check: Aftermath of Iran’s strikes on Israel? No, video clips are AI-generated
Video clips showing wrecked aircraft and high-rise buildings amid debris are going viral with the claim that they show the destruction in Israel by Iranian strikes.

Hyderabad: A video claiming to show the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran is going viral on social media.
Tensions are rising in Iran and Israel as both countries carry out strikes against each other. In this context, the video is circulating with the claim that it shows the destruction in Israel.
The video contains three clips: the first one shows an airport in ruins with several planes surrounded by debris, the second and third clips show partially blown-up high-rise buildings with smoke emerging from them.
The text on the video reads, “This is not Gaza. This is Israel after Iran strikes.” The video was shared on Instagram. (Archive)
Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the viral claim is false. The video clips are AI-generated.
Upon closer inspection of the three video clips, we found several inconsistencies that pointed to the presence of AI-generated content in the video.
The first clip shows an inconsistently rendered Star of David, which is a six-pointed star formed by two interlaced equilateral triangles. In one of the frames, a plane looks like it’s blending with the ground. The letters look like gibberish.
Using reverse image search, we found that the first clip of the video was posted in an Instagram video shared on May 22.
The second and third video clips also contain debris around buildings that looks unrealistic. Vehicles in the second clip seem to blend into each other and morph into an entirely new vehicle, as shown below.
These video clips were also shared on June 14 by the same Instagram user.
Upon checking this Instagram profile, we found many videos showing similar visuals of destroyed buildings with debris suddenly falling from the sky, and many destroyed planes in the middle of nowhere. These videos also contain AI-generated content.
The Instagram bio of the user is mentioned as ‘Resistance of Artificial Intelligence’.
We analysed a screenshot from the viral video using Deep Fake o Meter, an AI detection tool, and found that it is 58.6 per cent likely to have been generated using AI.
NewsMeter concludes that the viral claim is false. The video clips are AI-generated.
