Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the photo was not real. It was generated using the AI tool.

We noticed the watermark at the bottom of the photo that read @wild.trance. Taking this as a cue, we searched for it on Instagram and found an account with the same username. On skimming through the account, we found several photos of Indian actors, including Amir Khan, posted on July 22, depicting Indian actors in the characters from Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer.

The caption read, ā€œUnfathomable Fusion: The Oppenheimer Project" with an Indian star cast under Christopher Nolan's direction would be a cinematic masterpiece, showcasing the brilliance of both Oppenheimer's scientific mind and the talents of the Indian film industry.ā€

We also found a disclaimer in the caption, which reads, ā€œThese images are generated using artificial intelligence (AI) and are intended solely for entertainment purposes. There is no intention to cause harm or distress to anyone's feelings by these images. They are created with the intention of spreading joy and smiles across the world.ā€

Further, we checked the image on AI-detection websites. Optic AI detected that the image was AI-generated, and Hugging Face detected that the image was 77 percent artificial and 23 percent human.

Hence, we conclude that the viral image is AI-generated. The claim that it shows Amir Khan in his upcoming film is false.
