An image claiming to show the AIMIM women wing president welcoming Deepak Kumar has gone viral on social media.
Claim:The image shows AIMIM’s women wing president welcoming Deepak Kumar, also known as Mohammad Deepak, who allegedly faced off a mob to protect an elderly Muslim shopkeeper.
Fact:The claim is false. The image is AI-generated and does not depict a real event.

Hyderabad: A viral image circulating on social media claims to show the president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) women wing welcoming a person identified as ‘Mohammad Deepak’.

Mohammad Deepak is actually Deepak Kumar, a gym trainer.

The image surfaced amid widespread social media discussions around Deepak Kumar from Uttarakhand’s Kotdwar, whose name began trending after a confrontation linked to a dispute outside a local shop. On January 26, Deepak (37) reportedly intervened when a group of men allegedly pressured a 70-year-old Muslim shopkeeper suffering from Parkinson’s disease to remove the word ‘Baba’ from his shop’s name. As tensions rose and he was questioned about his identity, he introduced himself as Mohammad Deepak.

A video of the incident went viral, bringing him sudden online attention.

Amid this backdrop, the viral image carries a text overlay reading, “AIMIM women’s president Rubina welcomed Mohammed Deepak.” A Facebook user shared the image with a caption that said, “Brand India Mohammad Deepak... Today his wife must be feeling the strongest because her husband did not cower in the face of hatred, did not bow to the mob and stood up for an elderly man.” (Translated from Hindi) (Archive)

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the claim is false. The viral image is AI-generated and does not show any real event involving the AIMIM women wing president and Deepak Kumar.

We checked for news reports about the event mentioned in the claim but could not find any such report about the AIMIM women wing president.

A closer examination of the image reveals clear indicators of synthetic generation. Notably, a watermark of Google’s AI tool Gemini is present at the bottom-right corner, suggesting the image was generated using Artificial Intelligence rather than captured as a real photograph.

To further verify the authenticity, NewsMeter analysed the image using AI-detection tools such as SynthID, which flagged it as AI-generated with high probability.

Additionally, no credible media reports, official statements from AIMIM, or verified photographs from reliable sources confirm any such welcoming event. While AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has commented on the broader issue online, there is no evidence linking the party’s women wing president to Deepak Kumar in this context.

The viral image claiming to show the AIMIM women wing president welcoming ‘Mohammad Deepak’ is not genuine. It is AI-generated and does not capture any real incident. Therefore, the claim is false.
