Fact Check

NewsMeter found the claim to be false as the video is neither from China nor has a communal angle.

On performing a simple reverse image search, we found the same video on a YouTube channel called Morning News TV3, published on December 3, 2020. As per its description, the video is a clip showing the actions of a brutal debt collection company in Thailand, where the subordinates of the company were being assaulted.

Taking a cue from this, we performed a keyword search and found a detailed media report on the incident on Daily News, published on December 2, 2020. According to the report, the assault happened at TMN Group Co and the Thai police had ordered an inquiry into the debt collection gangā€™s actions.

We found another report by TurnBackHoax.ID, confirmed that the incident took place in Thailand in 2020. The report also confirmed that the reason behind the assault was the failure in collecting debt payments and is not about offering namaz in a public place.

Hence, we can conclude that the video is not from China and doesnā€™t have a communal angle.
