HYDERABAD: A message claiming that the Class 10 board exam will be discontinued under the New Education Policy (NEP) is circulating on WhatsApp.
The message claims that the cabinet has approved a new NEP where the board exam will only be held for class 12 and not class 10.
FACT CHECK:
NewsMeter checked for reports or notices that could support the claim but found none. No such announcement was made by any official source.
NewsMeter then checked the 2020 version of the NEP. "While the Board exams for Grades 10 and 12 will be continued, the existing system of Board and entrance examinations shall be reformed to eliminate the need for undertaking coaching classes," NEP said.
Clearly, the board exams for class 10 are not discontinued under the NEP. No such change has been made to it.

The 10th CBSE board exams are likely to be held in April 2022. The 10th SSC Telangana board exams will be held from May 11 to May 20, 2022.
Press Bureau of India debunked the viral message as fake. It said no such statement was issued by the Education ministry.
Evidently, the claim that the 10th board exam will be discontinued under the New Education Policy is false.
