Fact Check: Bangladeshi infiltrator steals from Hindu businessman's home in India? No, video is from Paraguay
A video has been circulating online, claiming it shows a Bangladeshi infiltrator in India committing burglary from a Hindu businessman’s home.

Fact:The claim is misleading. The video was recorded in Paraguay in April 2025.
Hyderabad: CCTV footage of a young man crossing over a barbed-wire fence on a wall and stealing a bicycle is circulating on social media. Those sharing the video claim it shows an infiltrator from Bangladesh committing burglary from a Hindu businessman’s home in India.
An X handle, Baba Banaras, often involved in peddling communal misinformation, shared the video with the caption, “Illegal Bangladeshi infiltrator Mohammad Zubair was caught on CCTV stealing from a Hindu businessman’s house. Police later arrested him. Such illegal Rohingya & Bangladeshi elements are a growing threat to India’s internal security, from theft to terror. Deport them all. (sic)” (Archive)

NewsMeter found that the claim is misleading, as the video is not from India.
We identified a timestamp in the CCTV footage indicating the video was recorded on April 26. A reverse image search led us to the same footage uploaded to a Facebook account from Paraguay on May 1, with a caption stating that a thief climbed a barbed-wire wall to steal a bicycle from a residence in Barrio Jara, Asunción, Paraguay.
We also found the video shared by several Instagram accounts (links here and here) in April-May 2025, including Radio Cáritas 680 AM, a media outlet in Paraguay. All the accounts and the media outlets reported that the video is from Bella Vista, Barrio Jara, Asunción, in Paraguay.
A verified account of Sistema Nacional de Televisión (SNT), another media outlet in Paraguay, published a video report on the incident on April 30.
According to the report, a man stole two bicycles from the patio of a residence in Asunción and was captured on security cameras. Neighbours reported growing insecurity in the area and called for increased police presence.
Therefore, we conclude that the video of the burglary is from Paraguay, not India. Hence, the claim of a Bangladeshi infiltrator committing burglary from a Hindu businessman’s home in India is false.
