Hyderabad: Social media users are claiming that the Ministry of Labour and Employment is providing financial assistance of Rs. 1,55,000 to the workers who worked between 1990-2021.

Fact check:

The claim is false.

NewsMeter opened the link which directed us to a website of the Ministry of Labour and Employment. It asked us to enter our name and gender and directed us to another page of the website. The information on that page reads, "After verification, it turns out that you are eligible for a financial benefit of (Rs 155,000) From the Ministry of labor and employment."

It further reads that the amount will be immediately available after sharing the message to 20 friends on WhatsApp. Adding on, it claims that after sharing one will be redirected to the Ministry of Labour and Employment page to receive the benefit.

Further, it is not clear to whom this financial assistance was communicated. Whether it was central or state government employees. Similarly, it did not mention whether it was announced by the central government or state government.

We checked the official website of the Ministry of Labour Employment and found many differences. NewsMeter could not find any such announcement on the official page.

Moreover, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) fact check has called it fake news. The message is fake and no such benefit is announced by the Ministry of Labour.

Hence, the claim is false.
