As the election campaign for the 2025 Bihar polls intensifies, a purported news graphic attributed to ABP News has been circulating widely on social media. The polls are scheduled to be held in two phases on November 6 and 11.

The graphic claims that BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah threatened Bihar voters with the following statement: “If people from Bihar don't vote for our party, then we won't let them 'enter' Delhi and Mumbai!”

Sharing the graphic, an X user wrote, “Look, people of Bihar, what kind of threats are being given.” (Archive)


Fact Check

NewsMeter found the claim to be false, as the viral graphic attributed to ABP News is fabricated.

We conducted a comprehensive keyword search for any statements by Amit Shah threatening Bihar voters, but found no credible reports. Had the Union Home Minister of India made such an inflammatory statement, it would have undoubtedly dominated headlines across all major media platforms.

We also performed a thorough search on ABP News' official website and verified social media accounts, but found no such statement reported by the media outlet. The purported news graphic does not appear in any of ABP News' authentic coverage.

However, we found an official clarification issued by ABP News on X on October 23. The media outlet categorically stated: “The graphic being spread on social media in the name of ABP News is completely fake. No such statement was made by the Home Minister, nor has any such news been aired by ABP News."

The channel also issued a stern warning of potential legal action against individuals and accounts responsible for creating and spreading this misinformation.

Therefore, we conclude that the viral graphic is fake and the Home Minister has made no such threatening statement to Bihar voters. The claim is false.
