A video is going viral on social media with the claim that it shows a protest in Bihar that broke out after the BJP won the election.
Claim:The video shows people protesting in Bihar after the BJP won the 2025 Assembly elections.

Hyderabad: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) coalition has registered a victory with 202 seats out of 243 in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. The counting of votes by the Election Commission of India took place on November 14.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single-largest party in Bihar with 89 seats, followed by Janata-Dal (United) at 85 seats. In this context, a video showing a huge crowd is going viral on social media with the claim that protests erupted in Bihar after the BJP’s win.

The video was shared on Instagram with the caption, “Protest after Bihar Election #truth #biharelection2025 #protestaganistbjp”. (Archive)

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the claim is false. The video is old. It shows people gathered to pay their last respects to Zubeen Garg.

Keyword searches did not yield any news reports or credible social media posts stating that large-scale protests were organised after the election result was announced.

There was a protest by Congress workers who alleged that the Bihar elections were ‘stolen’. This protest was organised at 24 Akbar Road in Delhi. However, there were no news reports using the viral video visuals and stating that it shows protests in Bihar.

A reverse image search of the viral video keyframes revealed the same footage shared on Instagram on September 22 with the caption, “RIP #ZubeenGarg”.

On September 19, singer Zubeen Garg lost his life in a tragic swimming accident in Singapore. His death had a huge impact on fans, and his last rites were conducted in Guwahati, Assam.

A video containing the viral video clip was also shared by Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Tourism and Higher Education of Nagaland, on September 21. In this video, the viral video clip can be found from the 0:25-minute mark to the 0:30-minute mark.

A comparison of screenshots from the X video and the viral video can be found here.

The caption of the X post reads, “Jai Zubin Da… An ocean of love, a sea of emotions… Thousands gathered to bid a tearful farewell to the heartthrob of Assam, Zubeen Garg. Your voice will forever echo in our hearts.”

This video also contains other video clips showing the last rites of Zubeen Garg. A vehicle carrying his body, with admirers gathered on the roads to pay their respects, was seen. The progression of the vehicle carrying Zubeen Garg’s body can be seen below.

Therefore, it is clear that the video shows the crowd gathered to pay their last respects to Zubeen Garg. It does not show people protesting in Bihar after the BJP won the election.
