Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the video is at least as old as 2017. It shows Mariam Saleh, a Palestinian makeup artist, working on creating the special effects in a film being shot in the Gaza Strip.

Upon a reverse image search of the videoā€™s keyframe, we tracked down the video to a YouTube channel called I Love Israel. The video was published on February 14, 2019. A text in the video reads, ā€œMake-up artists break gender barrier in the Gaza film Industry.ā€

Taking this cue, we ran a relevant keyword search and found an extended version of the video published by Turkey-based verified YouTube channel TRT World on March 2, 2017, titled ā€˜Palestinian film industry.ā€™

ā€œThere are not many film productions in the Gaza Strip. But that didnā€™t stop makeup artist Mariam Salah from following her dream. She taught herself to make fake blood for Palestinian films breaking into a business traditionally run by men,ā€ read the videoā€™s description.

Hence, the viral video dates back to at least 2017 and shows behind-the-scenes footage of a movie where makeup artist Mariam Salah can be seen creating fake injuries using makeup. Hence, we conclude that the claim is false.
