Hyderabad: A Facebook post claiming a 7-second `Coffee Loophole’ can help in losing weight in 7 weeks, has gone viral.

The post also attaches a link. It claims: “I’ve finally figured out the mistake I’ve been making my whole life: I was missing a crucial piece of the puzzle that would allow me to drop those extra pounds. I didn’t believe it, but after an old college friend of mine turned me onto this 10-second “Coffee Loophole. The results were nothing short of amazing. Best of all… I didn’t have to start exercising or change anything in my diet and I only had to change ONE thing! It took me only a few days to start seeing results.”

The video, found following the link also claims that you can attain the desired weight even after consuming high-calorie foods like pizza, burgers, fries, etc.

When talking about coffee as a weight loss home remedy, there is some evidence that suggests that drinking coffee might help with weight loss.

Coffee contains caffeine. Caffeine is included in most commercial fat-burning supplements nowadays. It is undoubtedly, a substance known to help increase your metabolism. Coffee also contains certain other stimulants responsible for high metabolic rates such as Theobromine mainly found in cocoa, Theophylline, and chlorogenic acid in some way help slow the absorption of carbs.

Now, here's the glitch, you must know that even though caffeine stimulates the nervous system, it directly signals fat cells to break down and release into your blood. However, releasing fatty acids in your blood does not help you lose weight unless you are burning calories that you consume through your diet.

You can only have fat-burning effects by either eating less or exercising more.

Another Healthline article refuting the lemon and coffee miracle potion for weight loss trend states that this notion is prevalent among various trends that involve the use of lemon, but ultimately neither lemon nor coffee can melt off fat.

It further explains that the only way to get rid of unwanted fat is by consuming favor calories and burning more of them. It further that there are studies that confirm that coffee may find slight weight reduction by consuming coffee. But the transformation we see in the claim is way more and unachievable.

We also found that the claim also talks about shedding pounds without exercising. On this, Medical News Today states that the only way to reduce weight without exercising is through making certain lifestyle changes such as eating more protein and fiber-rich food, taking probiotics, getting more sleep, reducing stress in daily life, taking more vitamin D, serving food in multiple small portions and not a bigger portion not at once, cut off sugar beverages and chewing food properly.

These were a few positive lifestyle changes to lose weight without going on a diet or exercising but exercising along with these positive lifestyle changes would boost a person's weight loss results.

In short, drinking coffee alone might just give a little boost to your metabolic rate which will eventually burn fat but if you do not make positive diet and lifestyle changes, drinking coffee would act no different than a simple beverage.
