The viral AI video claims that drinking a glass full of fennel-soaked water or fennel in the morning before a meal would help shed pounds in just 5 to 10 days.

Is this true? Letā€™s verify.

Fact Check

NewsMeter found the claim misleading.

Obesity is a global issue due to a massive change in lifestyle, food habits, and many other factors. If you are experiencing weight gain with no clear cause you should see a doctor instead of depending on such home remedies that might not possess any side effect on your body but cause delay in further treatment and medication if the weight gain is due to a medical condition.

Aew such medical conditions include ovarian cancer, acromegaly, Cushing's syndrome, cirrhosis, kidney problems, heart failure, polycystic ovary syndrome, quitting smoking, insomnia, and certain medications.

Most people think that weight gain and obesity are caused by a lack of willpower which is entirely untrue. Apart from psychological factors like willpower, certain other factors play a larger role when it comes to your body weight. Weight gain is also about your eating behaviour and lifestyle which is largely derived by your genetics and hormones.

And of course, willpower dedication, and perseverance are needed to work on it.

How does fennel water work?

No. A study evaluating the potential benefits of Fennel and Fenugreek tea drinking to suppress subjective short-term appetite in overweight women found that drinking fennel tea and fenugreek tea might be helpful in appetite control by reducing further food intake in overweight women. A longer trial with more subjects would be beneficial to evaluate the long-term effects (e.g. body weight, body fat, etc.) of these teas on obesity treatment in conjunction with appetite control. In addition, various parameters to evaluate appetite control, including hematologic outcomes would be required for future research.

According to a Healthline article, If you have an upset stomach, flatulence, or diarrhea, you might want to treat yourself to some fennel tea. The warm water of the tea may calm your digestion, and fennel itself is known to help with digestive issues.

Fennel tea also relieves constipation by relaxing digestive muscles, which might be just what you need if youā€™re struggling with regular bowel movements. Drinking some fennel tea will help cleanse your body and move toxins through your system.

Fennel tea is more related to metabolic functioning and not directly related to fat loss. Fennel has long been thought to strengthen your eyesight, regulate hormones, improve your digestion, and help memory. It is a good addition to your daily routine but relying only on the fennel tea for a transformation would keep you waiting for nothing.
