By Newsmeter Network Published on 31 Jan 2022 2:39 PM GMTHYDERABAD: A newspaper clipping claiming that the Director Generals (DGs) of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) were not invited to the Republic Day Parade this year, is circulating on Whatsapp.
"The DGPs of the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITB, and SSB were not invited to the Republic Day parade. The omission is perceived as a snub to the one odd million personnel of the central forces," reads the post
FACT CHECK:
This claim is false, as several CAPFs have refuted the claim. They said their chiefs were invited and they attended the parade.
The viral clipping is a report published in the Indian Express. The claim was printed in an opinion piece titled "Why PM Modi wasted no time in installing Netaji's statue" by Coomi Kapoor and was added under the section titled 'Not Invited'.
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) refuted the claim and said that the DG ITBP was invited and had attended the Parade. ITBP also added that it was for the first time that the 'Janbaz' bikers of ITBP showcased their skills at the parade.

It is clarified that the DG ITBP was invited & attended the Parade.

It should be noted that DG ITBP Sanjay Arora has an additional charge of SSB. Therefore, though SSB has not issued any statement, their chief was invited to the parade and had attended the same.
Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF) refuted the claim and tweeted that the information published in the Indian Express report is incorrect, ill-intended, and insulting to the Force. The tweet confirmed that Kuldeep Singh, DG CRPF, was invited and had attended the Republic Day Parade.
The information published in @IndianExpress that DG CRPF was not invited to Republic Day Parade is not just incorrect but also ill intended and insulting to the Force. Shri Kuldiep Singh, DG CRPF, was invited to the Republic Day Parade which he attended. pic.twitter.com/KzDeKR7dYj

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) also refuted the viral claim and tweeted that the Indian Express report was incorrect. It clarified that the DG of CISF Sheel Vardhan Singh was invited and had attended the Republic Day parade.

Border Security Force (BSF) has not issued any statement yet. Given that the chiefs of all other CAPFs were invited, it can be said that the DG BSF was also invited.
Moreover, after the CAPFs refuted the report, Indian Express removed the 'Not Invited' section from the article and added an Editor's note saying, "The last item in this article titled 'Not invited' was incorrect and has been removed. The error is regretted."
Evidently, the claim that DGs of several CAPF were not invited to the Republic Day Parade this year is false.
