Centre did not provide 150 crore jobs, viral screenshot is morphed

HYDERABAD: A screenshot of Aaj Tak's news bulletin quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the government has provided employment to 150 crore during the coronavirus lockdown, is viral on social media.

However, this screenshot is morphed. No such statement was made by Modi.

FACT CHECK:

We looked at the recent reports by AAJ TAK on YouTube and found the news bulletin that carried the original visuals. The bulletin is dated 8 April 2021 and is titled, "PM Modi On Covid Crisis Live". The timestamp 34:09 in the original bulletin shows the same text on the bottom along with the same time on the clock '20:40.'

The image below shows the similarities and differences between the original and viral image. This indicates that the viral image is morphed. (Blue box = similarities. Green box= differences)

The main text has been changed from "11 अप्रैल से 14 अप्रैल तक टीका उत्सव मनाएं हम" (Translation: "We will celebrate Tika Utsav from 11 April to 14 April") to "कोरोना-काल मे लॉकडाउन के समय भाजपा सरकार ने डेढ़ सौ करोड़ लोगों को रोजगार दिया: PM मोदी" (Translation: "At the time of lockdown in Corona-era, BJP government gave employment to 150 crore people: PM Modi").

The text at the bottom is also changed to "दोबारा लोकडाउन करने की संभावना" (Translation: "Possibility of lockdown again"). This statement is a contradiction to the news of the PM addressing the importance of night curfews and micro-containment zones to prevent the need for another lockdown.

Furthermore, no reports were found on the 150 crore employment provided by the government during the lockdown.

Evidently, a screenshot of Aaj Tak's bulletin has been morphed with false quotes.
