NewsMeter searched the internet for such information and did not find any such decision. No media has reported it.

We checked the Ministry of External Affairs' official Passport Seva Portal and found no notification about the government doing away with the nationality column in the passport.

Many Fact Check websites have debunked the claim Ministry of External Affairs spokesman refuted. India Today quoted him saying that the government has not removed the nationality column from the passport.
