Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the video is from Syria, not Morocco.

On performing a reverse image search of the videoā€™s keyframe, we found the same video featured in a report by an Iraqi media organisation, Kurdistan TV, published on February 12, 2023. It said that the child was rescued from the rubble of a building collapsed in northern Syria.

We also found a longer version of the video in a report by Express of February 8, 2023, titled ā€œHeartwrenching moment sobbing child is pulled from rubble of Syria earthquake.ā€

It also said that the child was rescued from the rubble of a building that collapsed due to an earthquake in Syria.

We also found the video in a report by a Turkish website, which said that the video is from Afrin, Aleppo province of Syria. It also mentioned that the girl child survived because she was stuck under the body of her sister, who could not survive.

Hence, we conclude that the viral video is from Syria, not Morocco. The claim is false.
