NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found the same video in a 2017 documentary video uploaded on YouTube. The video is titled 'The War of Chimeras' and was uploaded on 7 July 2017. Similarities between the viral video and the 2017 video clearly indicate that it is not related to the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

According to IMDb, the video is a war documentary based on a real story that shows the fight at the Ukrainian battle of Ilovaisk in 2014. It was directed by Anastasia Starozhytska and Maria Starozhytska.

In an interview, Anastasiya Starozhytska spoke about the message and the process behind the documentary. Starozhytska's mother Maria is a well-known Ukrainian journalist.

Clearly, the viral video does not show Ukrainian soldiers saying goodbye to their families before leaving for war amid the ongoing tensions with Russia.
