Clipped video shared as PM Modi announcing support for SRK's Pathaan
Social media users are sharing a video clip of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and suggesting that he has announced his support for Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘Pathaan’.

Hyderabad: Social media users are sharing a video clip of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and suggesting that he has announced his support for Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film 'Pathaan'. In the video, Mr. Modi can be heard saying, "I am a child of Pathaan. I speak the truth and practice the truth."
Twitter users shared the video with hashtags #NarendraModi, #ShahRukhKhan, and #PathaanFirstDayFirstShow.

The clip is being shared amid a social media campaign calling for boycotting the film. Several Hindu groups were outraged at Deepika Padukone wearing a saffron bikini in the film's first song "Besharam Rang." They alleged that the choice of the bikini colour hurts religious sentiments.

NewsMeter found that PM Modi never said "he is a son of Pathaan." On performing a reverse image search of the video's keyframe, we found an extended version of the same video published by NDTV on 23 February 2019.
In this video, the PM can be heard saying, "As per the protocol, I called Imran Khan to congratulate him on being elected as Prime Minster of Pakistan. I also told him that India and Pakistan have fought a lot, but Pakistan achieved nothing. Now it's time that India and Pakistan together fight against poverty, illiteracy, and other challenges."
At around the 1:20-minute mark, Mr. Modi says that Mr. Khan told him, "Modiji, I am the child of Pathaan. I speak the truth and practice the truth."
From this, it is evident that Mr. Modi was quoting Pakistan's former PM Imran Khan.
We also found a longer version of PM Mod's public address on BJP's YouTube channel. The video was published on 23 February 2019. In this video, the same reference to Imran Khan appears around the 1.01.00-minute mark.
The clipped video is old and is being shared with false context to mislead people. Hence, we conclude that PM Modi has not announced support for SRK's upcoming 'Pathaan' and has never said that he is a child of a 'Pathaan'.
