Fact:The claim is false. CM Revanth Reddy has made no such comments. The State government has called the news clipping fake.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy attended the Police Commemoration Parade held at Goshamahal, Hyderabad, on October 21, as part of Police Martyrs’ Memorial Day. During the event, he unveiled a memorial to honour police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

A newspaper clipping surfaced on social media claiming that CM Revanth said ‘Muslims cannot handle ministerial posts’ during the event. The clipping further attributes several statements to him, such as:

“Muslim brothers should understand the government; they cannot be given big posts.”

“When KCR gave the Home Ministry to Mohammed Ali, he did not handle it properly.”

“According to population figures, Muslims should not even be given a corporator seat.”

“It is with my cooperation that Muslims like Azharuddin are becoming MLCs.”

A Facebook user shared the purported e-paper’s image with the caption, “CM Revanth Reddy’s key remarks at the Police Martyrs’ Memorial Service - Muslims cannot handle ministerial posts.” (Archive) (Translated from Telugu) The user linked the news with the upcoming Jubilee Hills bypoll.

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the claim is false. The Chief Minister has made no such remarks against the Muslim community.

A keyword search led us to a video uploaded by the official YouTube channel of I&PR Telangana on October 21, titled, ‘Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy participates in Police Flag Day Parade at The Police Martyrs Memorial, Goshamahal.’

We reviewed the full speech, which starts at 48 minutes into the video. CM Revanth Reddy did not make any statements mentioned in the viral clipping.

He spoke about the greatness of the Telangana Police Department, the importance of Police Martyrs’ Memorial Day, and the sacrifices of the police who laid down their lives for the country and the state. He appealed to the leaders of the Maoist movement to join the mainstream and highlighted the crucial role of the police in maintaining peace and security in society. He also said that the police department works in line with the goals of his government and inspires everyone.

The official fact-check handle of the Telangana government on X debunked the viral post, clarifying that the newspaper clipping is fabricated. The post stated, “Fake Alert! A fake newspaper clipping is being circulated with a false claim that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said “Muslims cannot handle ministerial posts.” This statement is entirely fabricated; the Chief Minister has made no such remarks. Amid the Jubilee Hills by-elections, several communal misinformation posts are being spread to disrupt peace and harmony in the state.”

The post also urged citizens to verify information before sharing and not to fall for fake news.
