Did a driver execute a perfect U-turn on a cliff?

HYDERABAD: A video of a blue SUV pulling off a risky U-turn on a narrow road in the mountains is viral on social media.

The video shows the car carefully turning around on a road at the edge of a mountain cliff. At certain points in the video, the car seemed to go over the edge but the driver managed to execute the U-turn and drove off unscathed.

Social media users are sharing the video claiming that the u-turn was taken at the edge of a cliff and was a risky move to make considering how high the cliff was.

Several news outlets including Times Now, The Indian Express, and The Times of India also shared the viral video. The Times of India titled the video, "Driver makes perfect U-turn inches away from death."

FACT CHECK:

NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found the same video posted on YouTube from December 2021. The channel has posted several such videos showing experts driving cars and making U-turns on narrow roads.

The same stunt was also recorded from a different angle showing that the car is not actually at the edge of a cliff and there is another road below where the car is being reversed. This video shows that the mountain cliff is actually very far from where the car is making a U-turn.

The same sequence of events can be seen.

This makes it clear that the driver is not executing the U-turn on the edge of a mountain cliff but at the edge of a narrow road. The viral video was shot from an angle to make it look like the driver was on the edge.

Evidently, the driver is not executing a U-turn on the edge of a mountain cliff.
