Fact Check

NewsMeter performed a keyword search and found the full version of the viral video on the verified YouTube channel of the Aam Aadmi Party. The video was titled "Arvind Kejriwal addresses people at Surat" and was uploaded on 18 October 2016.

The video is 31:01 minutes long and the viral clip appears at the 14:50-minute mark. If you watch the video from the 14-minute time frame, you will see that Arvind Kejriwal was actually taking a dig at Home minister Amit Shah and the kind of dictatorship he allegedly exhibits in Gujarat in his speech.

BJP leader Prashan Umrao had tweeted the viral video in 2021.

The same clip was posted by Gujarat Home minister Harsh Sanghavi on Twitter on 19 February 2021. He wrote, "Kejriwal Ji why do you hate Gujarat so much?"

Replying to Mr. Sanghavi's tweet, AAP Gujarat had tweeted, "The BJP, which has lost the local body election and is scared, has started editing Arvind Kejriwal Ji's video to mislead people." It had also attached the original video where Mr. Kejriwal can be seen taking a dig at Amit Shah's rule in Gujarat and not threatening the people of Gujarat.

It is evident that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal did not threaten the people of Gujarat. The video has been taken out of context. Hence, the claim is misleading.
