Hyderabad: Several images of apparent newly launched flavours of the most loved potato chips are being widely circulated on social media.
The two viral images on the X platform show Lay’s packets of chips made from watermelon and iced matcha flavours.
Indeed, Lay’s has a variety of flavours, tailored for different parts of the world. But will Lay’s ever launch unconventional flavours such as watermelon and matcha?
Let’s find out.
Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the claim is false as the viral packs were photoshopped.
On performing a keyword search, we found a tweet carrying the image of the watermelon-flavored packet on the verified official X handle of Lay’s. In the tweet, Lay’s confirmed that the viral watermelon flavour is fake.
The caption of the tweet reads, “A fake flavour as refreshing as the real thing.” Scrolling through the Lay’s account, we also found a tweet confirming that matcha-flavored chips are also not real. The second tweet reads, “We love this fake flavor so matcha.”
