Did Musk fire Twitter's policy chief Vijaya Gadde ON AIR?

Hyderabad: A video of Elon Musk firing Vijaya Gadde, Twitter's head of legal, policy, and trust, on Joe Rogan's podcast is going viral.

In the viral video, Gadde can be heard saying, "I do think we've failed in a couple of ways and I want to admit that."

Musk responds, "Failure comes with a big penalty. You're fired."

This comes after Musk recently acquired Twitter for approximately $44 billion. Immediately after the takeover was complete, Musk dismissed key figures from Twitter's upper hierarchy, including CEO Parag Agarwal. Musk also fired the company's policy chief Vijaya Gadde.

NewsMeter performed a reverse image search of the viral video and found multiple similar videos. One such YouTube video was titled "edited form 2 podcast interview, Elon Musk fired Vijaya Gadde on joe rogan podcast." The title clearly states that the video has been edited.

Another video, titled "Elon Musk firing Twitter Exec on AIR - Joe Rogan Podcast," mentioned in its description that it was a parody video. The disclaimer read, "Disclaimer - Parody ! Found on Twitter. @ damonimani."

We found the parody video on @damonimani's Twitter page.

It is evident that two clips have been edited and merged to create the viral video and make it look like Must fired Vijaya Gadde on air.

We then ran multiple keyword searches to find the original videos. The Yandex search led us to original videos of the two podcasts from where the clips have been taken. The clip of Gadde was from Joe Rogan's podcast with Jack Dorsey, Vijaya Gadde, and Tim Pool. Elon Musk was not present during this discussion.

However, we found that the video of Musk is almost four years old and from the same Joe Rogan podcast where he smoked weed.

Lastly, we found a report that confirmed that the viral video is not real and is a parody.

While it is true that Musk fired Twitter's policy head, Hyderabad-origin Vijaya Gadde, he did not do it on air.

Hence, the claim is false.
