"It was rumored that Disha Vakani has been detected with throat cancer. The reports suggested that Disha is suffering from throat cancer because of her character Dayabens peculiar voice in the show. However, 'Jethalal' Dilip Joshi has now refuted the rumors. In a conversation with AajTak.in, Dilip Joshi said, "I am getting continuous calls since morning. Every now and then some weird news comes. I think there is no need to promote it. All I would say is that it is all a rumor. Don't pay any attention to them," the report said.

Another media report in Hindustan Times mentions, Disha, who had quit the show in 2017, has not yet reacted to the rumors. However, her brother Mayur Vakani who also played her on-screen brother Sundar refuted them as baseless.
