Hyderabad: A video of a woman wearing a t-shirt of Zomato, the food delivery startup, and driving a motorcycle with the company’s red-coloured food delivery bag is viral on social media.
An X premium user, Rajiv Mehta, shared the video claiming the woman is a model hired by the marketing head of Zomato in Indore. He wrote, “Indore #Zomato marketing head had this idea. He hired a model to drive around with an empty Zomato bag for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening. @zomato is on a roll… (sic)”

Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the claim is false.
Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal took to the microblogging website to clarify that his company has nothing to do with the woman. He also denied the food-delivery platform having a marketing head in Indore.
Replying to Rajiv’s post. Goyal wrote, “Hey! We had absolutely nothing to do with this. We don’t endorse helmet-less biking. Also, we don’t have an “Indore Marketing Head”. This seems to be someone just “free-riding” on our brand. Having said that, there’s nothing wrong with women delivering food - we have hundreds of women who deliver food every day to earn a livelihood for their families, and we are proud of their work ethic. (sic)”
Another user, Viraj Sheth, wrote, “Love that this had to be clarified. W** is happening on the internet. (sic)” To this, Mr Goyal said, “Yeah man; life’s funny nowadays.”
Hence, we conclude that the claim of Zomato hiring a model to ride around in Indore for marketing is false.
