Hyderabad: A graphic of India TV circulating on social media predicts the victory of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the upcoming Gujarat Assembly polls, which is likely to be held in December this year.

The graphic shows AAP getting the majority, 98 seats out of a total of 182 seats, followed by BJP getting 67 seats, the Congress party winning 13 seats, and others winning four seats.

The infographic is being widely shared on Facebook. (Click here and here to view the posts.)

Fact Check

NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found a similar infographic used in an article published by India TV on 17 January 2022. However, this graphic is an opinion poll on the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh, and AAP did not even feature in this graphic.

On comparing the two graphics, we found the template is similar, but the viral graphic has been altered to show AAP's victory in the upcoming Gujarat polls.

Further, we searched for the opinion poll of Gujarat using keywords and found a video report published by India TV on its YouTube channel on 30 July. The video showed an opinion poll for 11 states which was conducted between 11-24 July.

In Gujarat, the survey predicted 108 seats for BJP, 55 seats for Congress, 16 seats for AAP, and three seats for others.

It is evident that the channel predicted a majority for the BJP in the upcoming Gujarat polls and not AAP's victory as seen in the viral graphic. The viral graphic is digitally altered, hence, the claim is false.
