At the time of writing this article, the video had garnered 2.5 million views.
While media organisations like NDTV and Outlook reported that Drake remixed Lata Mangeshkar's song, Times Now and The Economic Times doubted the video's authenticity.
Fact Check
NewsMeter ran a keyword search and found an article published by iHeart on 6 August. It said that for the first time in eight years Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne reunited at OVO Fest in Toronto as Young Money. The rappers performed some of their biggest hits in front of around 16,000 fans. It also said the trio performed their hits like Bedrock, The Motto, Up All Night, etc.
The official Twitter handle of OVO sound had tweeted about the reunion.
Further, we found the full video of the concert uploaded on YouTube on 17 August 2022. The viral clip, though from a different angle, appears around the 1:17:00-hour time mark. Drake and Lil Wayne can be seen performing their song 'The Motto'. In the unedited video, no Hindi music plays in the background.
Drake can be seen performing the same step in the original video.
On checking the Instagram account of Chirag Gandhi who first posted the doctored video, we found he often remixes Hindi songs with English songs. He has also posted a video remix of "Didi Tera Dewar Deewana" and "The Motto."
It is evident that the viral video of Drake and Lil Wayne performing to Lata Mangeshkar's song has been doctored. Hence, the claim is false.
