Hyderabad: A video reportedly of Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan speaking in support of Pakistanā€™s former Prime Minister Imran Khan has gone viral on social media.

In the video, the actor can be heard saying, ā€œI know who is Imran Khan. For humanity, stand up for him.ā€ The video also has the Pakistan flag, Imran Khanā€™s portrait, and text that reads ā€œStand for Imran Khanā€ overlaid on it.

A Facebook user shared the video and wrote, ā€œHrithik Roshan Stand for Imran Khan Niazi (sic).ā€

Another Facebook user shared the video with the same claim.

This comes after Imran Khan was granted bail after being arrested on 9 May in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust case.

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the video has been doctored by superimposing an audio clip supporting Imran Khan.

On performing a reverse image search of the videoā€™s keyframe, we found the longer version of the video with a different audio uploaded on YouTube on 10 January. It is a 42-minute video of Hrithik Roshan interacting with his fans online.

The viral clip appears around the 37.35-minute mark where on being asked about a message for his fans, the actor replies, ā€œThank you, thank you for being there. I do not take them (his fans) for granted, I do not take you guys for granted. I know that I need to do good work and better work so that I always deserve the love.ā€

Earlier, NewsMeter fact-checked a similar doctored video of Akshay Kumar supporting Imran Khan.

Hence, we conclude that the viral video has been doctored by adding an audio clip and the claim that Hrithik Roshan spoke out in support of Imran Khan is false.
