Fact Check

NewsMeter noticed that several Twitter users had commented on the tweets about the former Twitter CEO saying the claim was false. So, we checked the Vancouver Times website and found that it is a satire website.

The "About Us" section of the website states, "Vancouver Times is the most trusted source for satire on the West Coast. We write satirical stories about issues that affect conservatives."

A disclaimer on the website said, "All information in the Service is provided "as is", with no guarantee of completeness, accuracy, timeliness or of the results obtained from the use of this information."

Finally, we ran a keyword search and did not come across any report from credible media organisations reporting the arrest of Parag Agrawal.

Hence, we conclude that the claim about the arrest of the former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal is false.

In 2021, a civil suit was filed against Twitter by a 13-year-old victim and his mother for refusing to take down and allegedly making money out of a clip that showed sexual abuse.

On 16 December, the Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin sent a letter to Elon Musk expressing concern that Twitter's approach to child safety had "rapidly deteriorated." The letter sought answers to seven sets of questions by 30 December.
