Fact Check: 2011 RD parades Bihar tableau being shared as UP tableau

Hyderabad: A set of two images are being shared on social media with a false claim that they are the Uttar Pradesh's tableau at the Republic Day parade under the Samajwadi Party government and the present Yogi Adityanath-led government.

The claim read," Uttar Pradesh's tableau under Samajwadi rule and Uttar Pradesh's tableau under Yogi's rule. This is the biggest change, one that brings a sense of relief and happiness."

Fact Check:

NewsMeter found that while one image is indeed from this year's Uttar Pradesh's tableau, the other image is Bihar's tableau at the 2011 Republic Day parade.

IMAGE 1 (MAN IN ORANGE AND YELLOW ATTIRE):

This image is from this year's Republic Day parade and shows Uttar Pradesh's tableau themed as 'Ayodhya – Cultural Heritage of Uttar Pradesh.' One can view the tableau at 01:53:50 minutes in the video uploaded by PBI INDIA.

IMAGE 2 ( MAN IN WHITE ATTIRE):

A reverse image search led to a 2015 article by NEWS18 with the title, "In pics: India celebrates 61st Republic day". The report stated that the image was taken in 2011.

We then searched for the videos of the 2011 Republic Day parade and found that the YouTube handles of PRASAR BHARATI ARCHIVES (34:27) and INDIA ARCHIVES (1:34:41) had uploaded the 2011 Republic Day Parade video. A visual comparison of the viral image with the 2011 Republic Day parade showed that the images are similar. This proves that this image was not linked to the 2021 Republic Day celebrations.

Hence, some social media users shared these set of images to falsely claim that one of them showed Uttar Pradesh's tableau under the Samajwadi Party government.
