Fact Check
The claim is false.
NewsMeter performed a keyword search and found a video uploaded on the YouTube channel 'Vice Admiral Girish Luthra Retd' on 6 March 2019. The video was taken during the golden jubilee celebrations of the Western Naval Command and the singer was Vice Admiral Girish Luthra.
Dainik Bhaskar had also reported that Vice Admiral Luthra had mesmerized the audience with his song and the whole hall had resonated with applause. The report read, "A video of Vice Admiral (Retd.) Girish Luthra is going viral these days in which he sings Udit Narayan's song at an event of the Navy. He sang the song 'Ghar se nikalte hi, kuch durr chalte hi'…This video is reportedly from a year ago but was uploaded for the first time on 5 March 2019 after which it has been shared several times."
The Quint had uploaded a video report on its YouTube channel on 12 March 2019. The video description read "Vice Admiral Girish Luthra talks about his love for music, politics and the culture of misinformation". The viral video clip can be seen at the 0:09-second mark.
We compared a screengrab from the viral video with an image of the late CDS Bipin Rawat. While Bipin Rawat wears the uniform of the Indian Air Force, the man in the video, Girish Luthra, is wearing the Navy uniform.
It is therefore evident that the claim made through the viral post is false. The man in the video is not Gen. Bipin Rawat but retired Vice Admiral of the Indian Navy Girish Luthra.
