Fact Check:
The claim that the viral photo is linked to the end of the farmers' protest and the repeal of the farm laws is false.
NewsMeter found that several news reports from 2020 had carried the photo. The articles referred to the farmers' protests that took place in 2020. It must be noted that the Farm Laws Repeal Law was passed in 2021.
Sabrang India had carried the photo in an article from December 2020. It said the photo was taken during a Bharat Bandh on 8 December. "People across the country came together to condemn the three laws passed by the central government…farmers leaders announced that 25 states reported their participation in the nationwide shutdown," the report read.
The website Counter Currents had also published the viral image on 6 December 2020 in an article discussing the reasons why the government should rule out the use of force in dealing with the farmers' protest.
A few Twitter users who shared the photo recently mentioned that the photo was from "one year ago" during the farmers' protests. This proves the photo is a year old.
Clearly, the viral photo is from 2020 and not related to the Farm Laws Repeal Law 2021. Hence, the claim is false.
