Fact Check: Aaditya Thackeray has not tested positive for HIV/AIDS

Hyderabad: After Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's son Aaditya Thackeray tweeted that he has tested positive for COVID-19, a screenshot of a news broadcast by TV9 Bharatvarsh claimed that he has tested positive for HIV/AIDS.

The photo has gone viral on social media.

NewsMeter found that the viral screenshot has been morphed and passed on with FALSE claims.

Fact Check:

NewsMeter searched online for the TV9 Bharatvarsh report and found a video from 20 March on its YouTube channel. However, it claims that Aaditya Thackeray, son of CM Uddhav, tested positive for coronavirus.

The word "corona" was replaced by "HIV/AIDS" in the viral image.

We also searched for reports on Aaditya Thackeray and HIV/AIDS and found none.

Clearly, the claim that Aaditya Thackeray has tested positive for HIV/AIDS is FALSE. A screenshot of TV9 Bharatvarsh report was morphed.
