Fact Check: AIMIM chief Owaisi threatens to stand with Pakistan? No, video is AI-manipulated
Claim:The video shows Owaisi saying Muslims are suffering from Hindu extremism in India, warns PM Modi about supporting Pakistan.
Fact:The claim is false. The viral video is AI-manipulated.

Hyderabad: A video claiming to show Hyderabad MP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi making controversial statements at a public meeting is going viral on social media.

The 35-second-long video with an ANI logo shows the Hyderabad MP speaking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In the video, Owaisi could be heard allegedly saying, “Modiji, the nation has a question for you, India wants to know. When you returned after being defeated by Pakistan, what did you feel? Do you understand how much pain a Muslim in this country feels when they are beaten by a Hindu? When your extremist followers beat a Muslim, we feel the same pain you felt after being defeated by Pakistan. I say, stop committing these atrocities. Otherwise, don’t call us traitors tomorrow when we side with Pakistan against your extremist actions.” (Translated from Hindi)

An X account, blocked in India but accessible by a VPN, shared the video with the caption, “BREAKING. Asaduddin Owaisi delivers a blistering message to Modi. ‘When you felt pain after Pakistan hit back, did you finally understand what an Indian Muslim feels when your extremists beat him every day? Stop oppression. Otherwise, do not call us traitors tomorrow if we stand against your radicals’.” (Archive)

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the viral claim is false. The video is manipulated using AI.

A reverse image search of the video’s keyframes led us to a video of Asaduddin Owaisi’s speech in Mumbai, livestreamed on the YouTube channel of ANI on January 4.

The video is titled, ‘AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s fiery speech in Mumbai | PM Modi | Trump | Pakistan | Bangladesh’.

Video analysis

In the YouTube video, we found the exact clip from Owaisi’s speech where Owaisi and the crowd on stage with him can be seen making the same gestures in the viral clip. The video clip is visible at the 21:18-minute mark in the video.

In the next 35 seconds, Owaisi is heard saying that Bangladesh received Rs 120 crores in 2025 as aid and grant, and 1,160 megawatt in power and LOCs (Lines of Credit) provided by the Modi government to Bangladesh is $8 billion over 10 years.

In the viral video, we also found that the lip movements of Owaisi do not align with the speech. The voice of the Hyderabad MP is also observed to be unnatural and different from usual.

Both videos show the exact same video, while the audios are different. This indicates that the viral clip is a manipulated media of Owaisi’s public meeting in Mumbai.

To further analyse the audio of the video, we used an AI detection tool, Hiya Deepfake detector.

The tool determined that the audio sample of the viral video is a deepfake, rating it 3 out of 100. This indicates that the viral video is manipulated using AI.

NewsMeter has debunked several such fake claims made by social media handles from Pakistan using AI-manipulated videos. One such report is available here.
