Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the claim is misleading, as the video is from 2018.
A reverse image search of the videoās keyframes led us to the same clip posted by the official X handle of the Congress party on August 15, 2018. The post took a jibe at Shah, stating that those who cannot properly unfurl the national flag, how can they take care of the country?
We also found the flag-hoisting programme live-streamed on the BJPās official X handle on August 15, 2018, with the caption: āAmit Shah unfurls the National Flag at BJP Head Office, New Delhi.ā
The viral clip appears at the 0:40-minute mark, where Shah can be seen stumbling while unfurling the flag. However, he immediately corrects it, and the flag goes up as planned and unfurls properly.
The Hindu and NDTV also reported on August 15, 2018, that during a flag-hoisting ceremony at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Amit Shah stumbled while unfurling the Tricolour, causing it to briefly slide down before he quickly corrected it and completed the ceremony.
Therefore, we conclude that the video showing Amit Shah fumbling the national flag while unfurling it is from 2018. The claim is misleading.
