Fact Check: Andhra University College of Engineering has not declared holiday on 25 Feb over 'Bheemla Nayak' release

A circular claiming that the Andhra University College of Engineering has declared a holiday on 25 February 2022 on the occasion of the release of Pawan Kalya-starrer ‘Bheemla Nayak’ is circulating on WhatsApp.

Hyderabad: A circular claiming that the Andhra University College of Engineering has declared a holiday on 25 February 2022 on the occasion of the release of Pawan Kalya-starrer 'Bheemla Nayak' is circulating on WhatsApp.

The circular reads, "The Heads of the Departments of AUCE (A) are hereby informed that the Classes for all year B.Tech and B.Tech + M.Tech will be declared holiday on 25-02-2022(Friday) on the occasion of "BHEEMLA NAYAK" movie release. And please be careful while doing mass celebrations at the theatres (sic)."


FACT CHECK:

The principal of Andhra University College of Engineering (AUCE) issued a statement denying the claim that the college had declared a holiday on 25 February. He said, "A fake circular is under circulation in the WhatsApp groups of students stating that holiday is declared on 25.02.2022 on the occasion of a new movie release. No such circular had been issued by this Office."

The university has reached out to the cyber crime division, Visakhapatnam, to file a complaint about the fake circular. A copy of the complaint states that the viral circular is fake and not issued by the college.

The Andhra Pradesh fact-check wing has also confirmed that the circular is fake. No holiday has been declared by the college on 25 February on the occasion of the release of 'Bheemla Nayak'.
